The Scrapbook
The Scrapbook
Years have passed since you were here
my kids are nearing grown
Yet, there are many times I envision
a time you were not gone
I watch my children wrestle and play
rekindling past days I miss
For a moment time stops in my mind
As I begin to reminisce
Snapshots and movies on film begin
as if the present turns blind
While the past broadcast on tapestry
Fast-forward, play…rewind
Moving through these virtual images
Which cover your span of life
I enlarge the pictures of good times
and reduce those of strife
I cut and paste pictures from the past
and move you into present day
As I imagine actions you would take
or what you might say
It gives me joy, peace and comfort
often accompanied by a tear
But as I cling on to my scrapbook
I always have you here.
