Ode to the Diet
Ode to the Diet
One of mankind’s mighty foes
the diet takes the cake
It forbids me of small passions
lest the contract I break
Priding itself in a stomach growl
as it whips me in to shape
Telling me to toss away the pies
and turn toward the grape
This covenant really cares for me
and has my best interest in mind
But it sure has a way of showing it
I guess this proves love is blind
Asking me to turn down a juicy steak
with golden fries and sweet tea
For small portions of rabbit food or
rubber substances called Fat free
They are trying throughout the year
but during holidays they are unfair
When face to face with sweet delights
It expects one to just sit and stare
Yes diets are one of mankind’s foes
but most sought after resolution
As you break its agreement you lose
when you gain weight in restitution
