Depression is not a Friend
Depression is not a friend
Do not fall into its numbing trap
Depression is not a friend
Like a morphine drip it seems
To hold till no end
With pity even though deserved
Like quicksand one does sink
Quiet hopelessness feelings
Change the way you think
The past cannot be altered
Future uncontrolled
Present though not perfect
Each one must take hold
Letting go even for a while
Until it is safe to grieve
Coping skills grow stronger
If hurt fails to leave
Look around for blessings
When they are hard to see
God will lift you up again
Rise up to break free
